Enter the Grishaverse with Book Two of the Shadow and Bone Trilogy by the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom.

The Darkling is more determined than ever to claim Alina’s magic and use it to take the Ravkan throne. With nowhere else to turn, Alina enlists the help of an infamous privateer and sets out to lead the Grisha army.

But as the truth of Alina's destiny unfolds, she slips deeper into the Darkling’s deadly game of forbidden magic, and further away from her humanity. To save her country, Alina will have to choose between her power and the love she thought would always be her shelter. No victory can come without sacrifice—and only she can face the oncoming storm.

It was okay. I read book one and literally died over it. It just had the perfect amount of romance and action and it was just perfection! I picked up book two and be warned: It’s slow. Like SLOWWWW. It gets better around page 200, but overall the first half was just a missed cause for me. However, the romance was still perfection, the action was pretty awesome, and Nikolai is just SHEER WONDERFULNESS. Other than that, it was a 3/5. Still a good book though!

This book had its parts but overall it was slow and it dragged on and on over the same things. Honestly it felt like I was waiting for something exciting and it just didn’t come which was disappointing. Mal bothered me and so did Alina whining about him constantly. It took me a long time to get through. However, I loved Toyla and Tamar as well as david and Nikolai. They are great characters and I hope to see more of them in the next book!

So I thought the first book was your typical fantasy novel ext. Boy was I wrong, this book was perfect. All of the characters were interesting and important. The plot was perfect. My only criticism is Mal. He is such a baby in this book but just know he gets better 😌. Read READ READ READ. PLEASE.

Overall a great follow up from the first book! Things progress a little slower in this one but I still enjoyed it. Lauren Fortgang does an amazing job with the narration. She’s quickly becoming a favorite. I love the way she embraces each character and breathes life into them.

A huge chunk of this book just dragged on and felt like it was just trying to fill pages. I am even trying to decide if it's worth reading the last book in the trilogy.

I thought it was a decent book. Would have enjoyed more world building around the Capital and Alina in charge, but it’s whatever. I thought the end was a little unsatisfying but that is personal taste. Overall enjoyed this book worth the price and a quick read.
