This book seems to be a combination of sci-fi and zombies

Have been trying to get back into reading and just can’t seem to focus. Transmission locked me in and kept my attention from start to finish. Will definitely be reading the rest of the series!

My own experience with reading puts this book a two star. I expect a book to have an opening, middle and a closing. This book barely got to the middle. Disappointing enough I’m not inclined to read more.
  • Young adult novel

This must be a young adult novel. The premise is interesting, but the follow through is juvenile.
  • simple fantasy for tweens

If I’m 13 like the leading character, this is a fun read to fulfill my assignment. It’s a stretch to call it “science” fiction. For this adult reader it lacks anything interesting except fast paced action. Beware of the zombies!
  • Predicable and way too simple

This should be characterized as a teen novel. The plot is predictable and thin, the characters flat and undeveloped, and the dialogue trite. I don’t recommend it for science fiction fans.
  • Surprising and good

Love following the story from the child’s perspective. Surprising turns that are exciting.
  • Thought it would be interesting

The overall premise had me intrigued, but the characters and plot lack depth. I’ve enjoyed other books from this author, but this one seams to be written for children. The dialogue and vocabulary are simplistic; perfect for an 8 to 12 year old. I was expecting more.... That said, it is a great book for kids. It has all the elements that kids love.
  • Interesting premise but can’t get over the age of the protagonists

I thought the overall idea was interesting but it bugged the hell out of me that the protagonists were supposedly kids. The way they talk is totally unrealistic for their age, which makes me wonder: why bother? Maybe the author was targeting a teen audience. It’s an easy read but I’ll stop on book two... I’ve had enough.
