Question – how did you find driving the convertible down the coast? Was it too windy or a really great experience?
Awesome video. Drove this route back in 1991 with a friend. Was mostly foggy so could not see the views so much, but had a blast. Topped it off in Santa Monica by meeting Arnold Schwarzenegger at World Gym there. How lucky can you get. 🙂
I did the opposite drive from San Diego to Eureka. The highlights were definitely Big Surr, Hearst Castle, Fisherman's wharf/Alcatraz, Pebble Beach, Red Wood National forest and thousands of great views. Fantastic video. You have a beautiful family my friend.

8:37 you said “Malibu is the first place you reach” after leaving Santa Barbara. You’re absolutely wrong!!! You skipped over Ventura and Oxnard and also the (Point Mugu and Port Hueneme areas) as an Oxnard native you definitely missed out .. smh

I'm a native Californian who has lived all his life on or no more than a few miles away from CA route 1. In my home town, it was called by the old Spanish name, El Camino Real. I loved taking this trip with you and your family!! You even stayed at my favorite Cambria get-away. nice. I see this video is a few years old, so i hope you bring your kids back for a repeat adventure. Maybe you could go south-to-north this time.
