I haven't eaten in Blue Bayou at Disneyland since 2010 and I don't remember how the food quality compared to other places in Disney. But in 2014, I had the most amazing seafood bisque (I think that's what is was. Not sure about translations. It was seafood in a cheese sauce) at the Blue Bayou in Tokyo Disneyland. It honestly might be the best meal I remember having as an adult.
Hey AJ! Just so you know, the word “tiffin” is actually the Hindi and Gujarati word for a lunchbox. Many Indian restaurants that cater to the actual diaspora will offer an actual tiffin delivery service during lunch hours for workers who cannot leave their office for lunch for whatever reason, but still want fresh, hot food. Schoolchildren in India also rely on tiffin-walas to deliver lunch from home in these special containers, as they were designed to be portable while still keeping food hot.
I love disney!
I knew about blue bayou because we did it for my birthday trip which we booked day before they reopen
We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at the GM lounge above test track. It was so fun and the view at night was stunning.
I want to bow-hunt and cook-up/eat one of those herbivores.
Savor The Savannah is another option for the Wild Africa Trek style tour at Animal Kingdom. It's a little less expensive, and doesn't include the rope bridge walk or some of the other animal experiences, but you do get to take a private truck across the Savannah, stop and talk to a trainer for a bit near the giraffes, and then still eat the same meal at the boma.
The challenge to being a food critic is found in the inevitable truth that what's good and what's mediocre are matters of taste. I often find your judgements way off base. It might be a good idea remember the old saying about different strokes for different folks and back off on the good and bad judgements.
Wild Africa Trek is money well spent. I put it off for years due to the cost, but now I can’t wait to do it again.
Went to Disneyland in 1975. I was 15 and it was the one & only time I've been there. I don't know if the Blue Bayou was the name at the time but we ate at that restaurant and it was awesome to have Pirates for dinnertime company.
Savor the Savannah at AK allows you dining at the Boma with a beautiful African inspired charcuterie and beer, wine & cider. A trip across the Savannah and chat with an animal specialist. A must do!!!
We ate in the living seas salon for my wedding reception and then did a dessert party in the Italy pavilion! It was the absolute best. We also ate at the Epcot central kitchen backstage when we taste tested our wedding meal. It was the most amazing experience ever.
I don't think it's still running, but we loved Club Villain at Hollywood Studios a few years ago. Great show, fun food and drinks.
It would be SO cool to have a ceremony outside the Tower of Terror and the colors/design of the rotunda in the America pavilion is gorgeous!
Can’t wait until this pandemic is virtually over and life returns to mostly ‘normal!’ Going to celebrate for an entire year and WDW is on top of the list!
What? The Blue Bijou was just AWESOME when we had dinner there for my birthday. We had Rack of lamb and grilled halibut (2 each.) and a wonderful crepe for dessert.
I am very surprised you did not like the food. I highly recommend that you ask for a manger if this happens again. They are all very nice and they want you to be happy and full!!
That thumbnail is terrifying 😳
That is NOT a natural Elsa
AJ, I felt let down by this video because the thumbnail made me think dining in some aspect of Peter Pan's Flight was possible
4:03 Illuminati..
Wow…I had no idea about a lot of these!! So cool!! Thanks for sharing, AJ!! 👍🏾 💜🎄
AJ where have you been? Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue has been closed for 9 months and foreseeable future… 😖👎
I wish you could separate #10 by a Count down instead of going from one to another and so mixed up. 🥒🍍🥥🍒🍇
We've had lunch at Pinocchio Village Haus and were lucky to snag a table overlooking the boats, and at the time, someone had set up sign at those tables where you can hold them up for the boat riders to see as they sailed past, and the signs had amusing actions such as "Clap" and "Touch Your Nose" and a couple of others. We had a blast holding up the signs and watching the boat riders imitate the actions on those signs.
me who has seen every DFB video
Yes, yes I did know you could eat there, but I’m watching anyway
I married my lovely bride in 1999 and we honeymooned for 9 days at WDW followed by a week on the Disney cruise line. This was my wife's first visit to Disney (I had been innumerable times before) and their are so many wonderful firsts from that trip, but your talking about the Garden Grill reminded me of a story that we joke about every trip since that first.
When we arrived at the Land Pavilion one of the first things we did was ride Living With The Land. She found that ride fascinating because of the greenhouses.
We had a reservation at GG for an early lunch to avoid the crowds and as we were being served our orders I mentioned that some of the food we were eating came from the greenhouses on property. As it happened our seat rotated past the Living With The Land overlook and one of the animatronic roosters crowed as I said this. My dear, sweet, innocent wife looks at me all wide eyed, held up the drumstick she was eating, and in all seriousness, asks me, "Is that one of the chickens?!?".
I took a moment to control my face and very calmly replied, "Yes, and they have a special machine to remove all the wires before serving it."
She looked at me for a moment in confusion and I could no longer hold it in and started to laugh, leading to more confusion.
I regained my composure, eventually, and explained that the rooster she was hearing is an audio-animatronic, a robot, and not edible in anyway.
She laughed hard, and we have never ridden LWTL since then without noting the chickens they raise on the ride for the restaurant.
Thanks for reminding me of that moment and keep up the great videos.
We’ve done highway in the sky three times and have had fun and exciting tours each time meeting new people. The food and drinks are fabulous. We definitely will continue this once it comes back
I did the Highway in the Sky dining tour, and it was totally worth it. The food and drinks were all great, they sang for us at the Polynesian, and the private fireworks viewing from the Contemporary was fantastic.
Has anyone ever actually thrown a dinner roll at someone in a passing boat at the Blue Bayou? I always ask someone to, but I’ve never gotten one 🙁
Just want to give props for working "mercurial" into the script.
Here's one for ya AJ! You know me Doug the monorail driver. Once I was driving my monorail on the resort beam and there was a wife who rented one monorail car for her husband's birthday. A chef from Victoria and Alberts cooked a special dinner for them while I drove them around. The other cars on the monorail were still open to guests but the car right behind my cockpit was kept closed. It was fun!
