Grammatical Errors Ironic & Disappointing
2
By AmHistoryGirl
I had hoped to use this application in my writing course, as I've used the original text for years. The layout and graphics are appealing, but in the first chapter alone I found several errors
that would surely mislead my students.
Just two examples: under Rule 2 (In a series of three or more terms with a single conjunction, use a comma after each term except the last), there is a comma missing after the second term ("read it") in one of the examples supposedly showing correct usage. Rule 5 itself has a glaring mistake; it reads "Do not join independent clauses by a comma," whereas it should read "Do not join independent clauses WITH a comma."
These errors in leaped out at me and convinced me to try another version. Rule 22: Do not let the blind lead the blind.
